Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women, the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), has a mission, a voice and a place in the church, just like every woman! With a history of more than 200 years and more than 300,000 members, PW is organized at all levels of the Presbyterian Church.

THE FIRST ANNUAL PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN ACTION DAY:  JANUARY 11, 2013

Acknowledged in Worship on Sunday, January 13, 2013

Your smart phone . . .
Your t-shirt . . .
Your computer . . .
Your morning cup of coffee . . .
The tomato on your sandwich.
All these could have come from profits derived from slave labor.

Human trafficking is a modern form of slavery, whose causes and consequences are violations of human rights.   Poverty, gender discrimination, lack of rights in the work place and conflict create the breeding ground for human trafficking, which is global, vicious and profitable.  The International Labour Organization estimates that at least 20.9 million people are in forced labor around the world.

Our church is working to stop it.

To learn about some of the PC(USA) efforts directed towards this issue, go to www.pcusa.org/humantrafficking

Presbyterian Women are part of these efforts, having made Human Trafficking the focus of the first annual Presbyterian Women Action Day.  PW’s around the country will join together this week to raise awareness and get involved in the fight…to stop human slavery.
